Freeport East Harwich, forms part of ‘Freeport East’, a partnership between Hutchison Ports, Harwich Haven Authority, New Anglia LEP, South East LEP, Essex County Council, Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council, Tendring District Council, Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils and the Haven Gateway Partnership.

Freeport East is centred upon the Ports of Felixstowe,  Harwich International  and Gateway 14. The new port terminal development at Bathside Bay, Harwich is on the world’s major trade routes connecting the UK directly with markets around the world. It is ideally placed to attract global investors looking to use the UK as a springboard to access European markets and beyond for container traffic growth and (subject to planning) green energy projects.

The Port of Felixstowe is the UK’s busiest container port. Harwich International Port currently hosts the O & M base for Galloper Wind Farms and has previously supported the assembly and installation of other major windfarms.

The East of England has a global reputation for logistics, innovation and technology. In the green energy sector, Freeport East brings together a team of major companies and international investors and world-leading research-intensive universities working closely with local authorities to create a new investment and innovation opportunity for the UK.
